Kennedy Early Childhood Center "Academic Activity" News 2024
Shadows and reflections was the topic of discussion on the carpet with the Pre-Kindergarten scholars in Learning Lab 301 led by Ms. Tiffany Robertson and Mrs. Beverly Drain.
Ms. Tiffany Robertson posed the question, "Where do I need to go to see my shadow?" Scholars responded, "the mall, the store, the gas station, the zoo, and the hotel.". When asked the number from yesterday's lesson, scholars said, "The number zero".
Ms. Tiffany reminded scholars verbally and visually of why specific attention and caution is needed because the formation of the number zero is the same for the letter (O), number (0), and the shape (circle).
Scholars were also segmenting words: pig, hot, and row. They identified the sounds of blends: sw, sh, gl, br, dr, and gr. They sang a verse of Row, Row Row Your Boat before transitioning to Center Time to dress up, make movie posters, make mirrors, practice segmenting, and scavenger hunt for shapes and draw them. Learning Lab 301 is indeed learning and growing as they #RISETOTHECALLOFTHEFUTURE!
